The answer is no!

To the naked eye kipping pull-ups look like swinging or 'cheater' pull-ups. But done properly kipping pull-ups are a deliberate controlled use of force generated from the hips through the core into the arms. A 'cheater' pull-up is an uncontrolled momentus pendullum like swing that is done by kicking the feet. Creating a 'kip' is somewhat like a power clean or other explosive exercises we use everyday in a power training environment to train work, speed and explosiveness.
